Iteration Control Data

To reduce the number of iterations required to solve the problem the user should estimate the factor of safety as well as the angle of inclination of the side forces . The initial factor of safety has a default of 3 and the default for is one-half of the slope angle, as a reasonable estimate for the initial estimate of .

Allowable force and moment imbalances are established by the program. A description of the force and moment imbalance is given in the theoretical background section . It is suggested that appropriate values for the maximum acceptable horizontal force imbalance and the maximum acceptable moment imbalance are given by

= approximate average unit weight for slope
